This one isn't photo shopped. There happened to be a Space Gray (not mine) in for service at my friends shop and we rolled one of my wheels out and leaned it against the stockers... if you look closely, you can see the spokes of the original wheels in the background.

Thanks guys!
I think I'm ready for the drop now... I'm also considering a Megan SS exhaust... They seem to be a lot less expensive than other options, yet they sound pretty awesome on Youtube. Can anyone offer any feedback on them? |

Thank you... Finally lowered the truck on H&Rs last Friday. Difficult to tell from this poor cell phone photo next to my buddies OEM height X5M, but the stance seems to capture the attitude of the truck much better. I hope to get better photos Saturday morning... (going to Greensboro Cars & Coffee)

Thanks Wintendo! I was really worried that the Titanium Gunmetal BBS would clash with Space Gray, but it worked out to be the perfect combination. Now that it has been lowered, it looks even better. My wife was skeptical about lowering it, but she now agrees that it looks awesome.
Now, my buddys' wife is putting pressure on him to lower his white X5M!! He was satisfied with the performance of his X5M until he felt the power difference in my Active Autowerks tune. Now he wants that too! keeping up with the Joneses!!! Last edited by gixxerboy63; 03-19-2015 at 05:33 PM.. |

As for your contemplation go badgeless. It's a cleaner look and if you have a 'M' license plate surround it's redundant anyway. That's how I have mine setup. Can post a pick later if you want. |

I want to lose the front "MPower" plate for a cleaner nose, but first, I will have to patch the plate holder holes and refinish the entire bumper. I am also trying to decide on a license plate frame for the rear. Should I consider the limited edition carbon fiber "M performance" or just go with the plain black "M"? Gixxer - waiting on "XFIVEM" custom North Carolina Tag to arrive. |

Concerning your hole problem, I sourced bumper plugs from http://www.bumperplugs.com. A little pricey for what they are, but the paint work was top notch and a perfect match. If your color is not listed just shoot them an email. That's what I had to do. I couldn't justify getting the holes filled in properly by a body shop so I went this route. I figure when the car goes to the body shop for some proper work I'll get it filled in then. If you still need a plate for the front I recommend http://www.usmillworks.com/ quick disconnect one. I've tried three different brands of tow hook holders and this one is by far the best. A simple black oem bmw frame with no lettering would be best for the front. No point in drawing anymore attention to the plate than you need to. Regarding the rear frame the oem cf m performance one peeled on me within a year. The clearcoat just did not hold up. Went instead with the 'powered by M' one now since its the black metal and couldn't be happier. Gives just enough spice back there with a badgeless setup. If you are keeping the badge go with a plain black surround like the front. It's tacky otherwise imo. To each their own though as you are speaking with someone who put 'rocket white' wheels on their blue car lol... |

Good heads up on the M performance plate frame not holding up... I would expect more from a $90 frame from BMW.
The bumper plugs would be a great idea, but I have rock chips and a spot on the corner of my bumper where it appears that someone rubbed through the clear, so I thought I would take care of everything at once with a bumper cover refinish. I also agree with keeping the back clean and debadged. Maybe my "XFIVEM" license plate and a simple black frame will be enough? I like the idea of retaining the "M" valve in the exhaust, so I have decided against the Megan exhaust (for now) and may try the OEM muffler mod with new exhaust tips instead. CLOSING THE GAP WITH H&Rs! Before H&Rs AFTER Can you see the difference? Last edited by gixxerboy63; 03-19-2015 at 09:41 PM.. |
