it worked, looks great....i know i should take some pics but its -25c here today...sux
its possible without trimming the skirts...once you line up by feel where these skirts should land on the running board, careful measuring and drilling and its done....it took hours of measuring and thinking but it is possible...i love the look |

Seems like the downward angle they are mounted at would put them in direct line of fire of anything coming off the front tires. I would think this is terrible when there is salt, etc on the road. How's the paint holding up during winter driving?

Thanks, would love to see some pics once it warms up. Think I've only seen 2 different white ones with skirts. Hoping the black will blend everything together a little better instead of looking so "stuck on". Need to make a decision before I get the front/rear pieces painted. So you didn't end up cutting the skirts at all just drilled accurate mounting points on the running board and bolted together? Have any pics of the brackets you made up?

yeah that was the most time consuming...lining up where the skirt should go on the running board and then drilling the holes.....brackets were just two small pieced of steel used to screw into, to pull the ends in...once you start the process you'll see what i mean
there was no trimming for me...but i can see how someone would be inclined to trim.....patience and you wont need to trim.. pics soon.....getting tips, downpipe and springs put on next week.... |

I have the kit on my LCI and love it, however, the front lip takes a beating in Chicago winters. Just noticed yesterday that some of the paint is chipping. Certainly from salt abuse and rock chips as the vehicle sees mostly highway driving.
I only have crappy pics, but will try to snap some betters ones. |

Would like to see the final pics too since Im still trying to decide whether to attach them to the running boards or skirts but leaning towards the boards. Rockers are in route anyway. Just finished up the front/rear install:

IMO, on a black car, the pieces sort of gets washed out and hard to notice. I'm not a fan of these pieces, makes the car look too "overextended". IMO, the LCI X5's bumper styling is perfect.

Thanks! Definitely get what you are saying as I had the same reservation about the rear pieces, sometimes reminds me of those old school riced out body kits with multiple "decks". Not so much the front since I think it was in need of a chin. I was more happy with the rear than I thought I would be and think it looks much better in person than it does in pictures. I actually like that you loose some of the lines since this truck has more body panels than most out there. I do agree that the lci bumper alone is very nice and keeps it minimalist and classy. Im going for aggresive + classy.
I am the same user @ xoutpost who posted in the pic thread - they are the 120mm supersprint tips. So glad they started offering the retro plates again! |
