Car would not start a week ago. The message that i got from the car was:
1. Transmission Malfunction 2. restraint System Malfunction 3. Brake Malfuntion. Took it to the dealership and told me it was the battery was low and that it was due to Customers behavior. got the car back Monday, drove the car 40 miles everyday in traffic for 2 hours a day since getting the car back. Yesterday night after getting home from work, car would not start again. same message with 1 addition: 1. Transmission Malfunction 2. restraint System Malfunction 3. Brake Malfuntion. 4. Braking/Chasis Stabilization Malfunction. Cars back in the shop. I also have about 17,000 miles on the car. I love my dealership |

My wife just got that message on her X5M 2011 yesterday on her grocery run. She took it to the dealer and after doing the diagnostics they replaced the battery. It was done within an hour great service.

Been over a month, just back from a 2500 mile round trip Pennsylvania to Florida vacation. Had no issues since the battery was replaced.

I just had a battery replaced under warranty on my '09 X5d. Clock resets and the orange battery symbol in the center of the cluster. Never failed to start. The battery failed a load test and was replaced (and registered) with the same type of (white) lead acid battery. I was hoping for an AGM replacement with reprogram... but no dice. While it was in the shop they also changed the air charge temperature sensor which had a recall campaign. With the car wash it was just shy of 90 minutes and didn't cost me a cent. Vehicle has only been in service for 29 months. I hope it was just a dud battery.

Took the car in for aux pump controller recall and complained about increased battery discharged. As usual was asked how long the car is driven, stop and go traffic or not. Car registered a page of error codes related to low voltage. Mentioned to advisor that through this forum i understand other dealers are replacing faulty batteries with AGM style under warranty and problem seems to be solved. Battery failed dealer test miseably so got the AGM battery under warranty. Believe faulty battery is a known issue but no recall because it's not a safety concern. Only the ones that complain get the new battery.

I had this problem on my x5 which I took in 3 times before they fixed it.
Admittedly the SA was great as it was BMW that were being difficult and my SA went to bat for me. In the end I got a new AGM battery and they reprogrammed the alternator to come on earlier. By the way he was talking it sounded like our cars do not have AGM batteries as he said the battery was upgraded after he argued with BMW. The problem with our cars is the high draw, car not going to sleep and alternator only charging when coasting or braking. One thing that helped a lot was to lock the car when in your garage. The car will go to sleep quicker if you lock the car. Many of us leave the car unlocked when in the garage but this increases draw as the car is awake for longer and the multiple computers are continuing to draw power. |

Fudge!
My battery is officially dead. Waited too long to take in but having fun with new car (2012 B8 Audi S4) X5 M in the garage. Call the dealer and have them bring a battery over? Boost it and take to dealer? Thoughts appreciated

you're thinking of lexus service
did you try charging it? flatbed it to the dealer is the next option because they have to reprogram the car after installing the new battery. |

Do not boost a vehicle especially one with tons of electronic components. Any charger will do. I have a trickle charger and a Crappy Tire charger with starter option. It is best for the battery to slow charge it over night. BMW dealer has one that is around $70.
Try charging it first, if you can't start it the next morning the battery needs to be replaced. Did you receive Increased battery discharge message before? I would push for the dealer to replace the battery under warranty. |

It had given me the low battery warning before but I had started it up every week or two until yesterday
