Did you get your HPFP's replaced as well? They were just recently included in a follow-up campaign, so I scheduled a follow-up appt. and had those done. Still didn't notice any difference after those were replaced, or the 1st round of fixes. |

Yes, big Husky fan. My build date is 9/10, so I would think there would be some pretty good updates to do. I haven't found any coding that I have lost and I had a pretty extensive list.
I had no clue about the HPFP. I had the following replaced: Updated fuel injectors Vacuum Pump Low pressure fuel sensor with line PCV lines Mass Air Flow Meters Along with a bunch of clamps, lines, and gaskets. No care package was given like others have received. So what is the scoop on this HPFP? Is there a bulletin out on it? Going to be really pissed if I have to take it again to get this done when they could have easily done it this time. |

The low viscosity rings reduce friction which increases power and MPG but you do get some blow-by when cold. The turbos eat a bit of oil until they are up to temp and fully sealed up.

Not much…my SA sort of just shrugged off the latest campaign as if it was no big deal. Still, they replaced the HPFP's and sent me on my way.

I know….there's almost nothing out there on it I heard about it from a fellow Seattle X5'er, emailed my SA, and was advised to bring it it. Had them replaced last week. Last edited by jiggz; 06-05-2015 at 08:54 AM.. |

My old 335 was in limp mode for almost 2 years thanks to the hpfp lol
I just called my SA to schedule an appointment for the follow up on the N63 campaign and was told they have no knowledge or notes on this??? He was giving me the run around about build dates and other non sense. Told me not to believe what I read on forums lol...Do you have any additional info I can explain to my SA? |

Like PAX5 said, it's 'shrouded in mystery' lol but several of us have had them replaced. I know BMW Seattle is aware of it - they've done several. My SA didn't really know much about it or say much, but she scheduled me and they replaced them about 2 months after the initial N63 work. Here's a copy of my invoice - you can clearly see the description, date (5/27), and N/C as it's covered by the campaign. |

My two lambda sensors were replaced as part of this campaign ... I noticed that some of you didn't get them replaced according to the work order. I wonder why?
Build date on my car is 04/2011 BTW. But now I have this problem ... black soot dripping from exhaust (aka "unburned fuel"). Never had it before : Last edited by PAX5; 06-06-2015 at 10:48 AM.. |

My build date is 6/2011. The black soot on the bumper? If yes I think there was a thread on this somewhere on here…mine's always had that. |

They completed my service on May 21st at Life Quality BMW in Brooklyn. So far the car is running great. This is a list of work that was done:

Does this engine have an additional injector? I know some engines have an additional injector that activates on cold starts. Also I see they changed oil part to 83-21-2-365-946 (Twin Power oil) from 07-51-0-017-866 BMW High performane oil that they used in the past. |

1. they initially used the wrong injector (note different p/n). Once an injector has been installed and torqued down, it cannot be reused ... LOL! 2. then installed correct p/n's with all index no.'s matching And, P/N 07-51-0-017-866 was Castrol brand P/N 83-21-2-365-946 (Twin Power oil) is Shell brand. They need(ed) another supplier to blame for the faulty engine design .... I don't even know if we can buy this oil on the retail market?! We might be forced to buy this oil through the stealer network every 10K miles! From Turner Motorsport BMW 5W-30 Twinpower Turbo Longlife Synthetic Oil Part #: 83212365946 (83-21-2-365-946) The BMW 5W30 motor oil is the factory engine oil approved for almost all BMW engines, except for BMW Diesel and some M3/M5/M6 engines. It's the only oil approved in the US for BMW's turbo N20 N54 N55 engines, including the S55 engine in the 2015+ F80 M3/F82 M4. It can also be used in most MINI engines. This oil was especially formulated for the USA market to meet compatibility requirements with the high sulfur content in our fuels. It meets BMW LL01 and API SL specs for gasoline engines from 1997 up through today as well as ACEA A3/B3 requirements. This is the current oil used in BMW dealerships. In January 2015 BMW changed official oil suppliers from Castrol to Shell. The new oils are designed to meet requirements of both the newer engines as well as older BMW's. This oil can be used in cars with either normally aspirated and or turbocharged engines. This oil can also be used E39 M5 and Z8 with the S62 engine.
