In the end though, I really wanted an X6 over an X5 and diesel isn't an option. (at least in the states) |

I just picked up my/my wife X5 35 SA and only got 350 miles on a full tank 21gal avg 17 miles per gal on 60/40 hwy/local. Now I'm planing on ordering my X6 this week and thinking of getting the 50 since there isn't much difference in the EPA millage. Any thoughts out there? Or is the purr of the 50 drowning out my logic?

I have been averaging around 17 mpg with my 35i and it has ~1900 miles on it. I think the 35i does ~3-4 mpg better than the 50i overall.

35d
Here's another twist.
The 35d get's much better mileage than the window sticker EPA I have 15,000 miles now on my 2010 X5 35d and my 15k average, which I have not reset, is 37mph and 23.7 mpg, which is mostly in town driving. My highway range is between 625-650. On a level highway, and no wind, I get 30-32 mpg at a steady 80 mph indicated speed The 35d is simply amazing. I have been very excited that this vehicle easily exceeds the EPA window estimate
