New to BMW: X6M on order! Quick Question:
Greetings from Colorado - I just placed an order for a 2010 X6M - Carbon Black / Silverstone II / Carbon Leather combo. The dealer says my new car will be here at the end of November. Very exciting!
One question: I obviously can't drive around Colorado during the winter with summer performance tires - anyone have any snow tire recommendations for the X6? I know the tire sizes make it challenging to find good snow tires. . . Thanks! |

Anyone shed some light on this? I am wondering if perhaps a 19 inch wheel will work, with (much) narrower rubber. On our old 4.6is, the recommended winter set up involved 18" wheels, with 255 width rubber all around. It worked fantastically well. (The 4.6is was also 275/315 on 20s). I am thinking 18s will not clear the massive front rotors, however Thanks for any help. It's snowing here ALREADY!!! Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! The X6M is due to arrive at the end of October, and we'd really like to have the winter set up in place.

Sorry they don't list what you need. I've never bought anything from tirerack, but their database of owner tire surveys is very helpful. If you know the sizes you need or like, you may have to venture away from their wizards to see what else might be available based on size, winter/summer, brand, etc. Consumer reports does a lot of testing. I think you can pay a couple of bucks for a month, get the info you need, then cancel before the next billing. |

I did extensive research last year, and your best best for performance and price is the 275/40/20 Pirelli Scorpion Ice and snow tire. There will be few tires that will fit do to offest and brake size. I added ET20 Beyern Mesh Black Wheels so I don't damage my summer shoes.
