2001 X5 estimate on new brakes and rotars?
Hey guys I've been neglecting my warning brake light for a few weeks now until I finally got myself to a repair shop to get an estimate. I took it to a shop and the mechanic told me that the pads were worn down to a point where I would have to replace the rotors as well. He said parts alone would be $700.
Anyone here have any experience with replacing all four brakes and rotors? How much did you guys pay? Thanks in advanced. |

I replaced mine with Brembo rotors, Porterfield pads and stock sensor for less that OEM.
Since I treat my X5 like a sports car and drive the twisties alot, braking is important to me, and the OEM rotors wear out too fast or warp after getting hot, and the pad wear out faster after repeated heat cycling. On my 2001 X5, my OEM rotors are not vented. Once I switched to the Brembo rotors (slotted and vented) and the Porterfield pads (Semi-metallic) braking became better and faster. The Brembo rep recommended the slotted over drilled, because the of the weight of the vehicle. Drilled occasionally get stress cracks that radiate from the holes. |
