Nope, but the 3.5 I have moves like a bat out of hell. I am sure it has a lot more than 300HP, more like 340, as I think I can get well under 6 seconds.
The V8 must be in M3 range.

Once tuners like Dinan and Vishnu come out with with tunes for the 50i then it will probably be M3 fast if not slightly faster. The X6 will certainly get you a lot more attention than the M3. My 50i feels about the same as my previous Lexus IS350 but with more torque which is definitely needed to move 5,000+ lbs. |

I just finished the 1200 mile break in period and tried 0-60 on the 50i and it did about 5.6sec. Perhaps it's the weather (about 100 degrees) that is affecting the performance or perhaps it's because it need a few more accelerations to reach optimal performance. I'll try it again in a few days.
By the way the car does not feel like there is a turbo in it. No noticeable lag and feels closer to a naturally aspirated V8. |

the x6 is way faster man i even gave him a head start !!
soon i will try with my bro with 2008 cayenne S this 1 will be interesting because the cayenne pulled on x5 like the x6 but the x6 pulled harder than the cayenne at low speed due to tourqe i think but the cayenne pulls at high speed so i guess it will be so even stay tuned i will post the results i am sure i will win this 1 |

Thing is, weight and drag play a large part in the overall equation. At low speeds, a chipped X6 will have a large torque advantage, but the M3 will have a large weight advantage. Also, at high speeds the X6 will have a greater amount of horsepower, but its huge frontal surface area will create a lot of drag. It'd be interesting. Just don't throw curves into the mix, hahaha.

and engage sport mode. Load the torque converter to about 2700rpm before releasing the brake pedal and allowing the transmission to handle the shifts for you." Isn't that bad for the brakes and/or engine? |

Also, R&T (as well as many other mags like C&D) use 1 foot rollouts for their 0-60 numbers. The car probably hits 60 in the low 5's in a true 0-60 test.

Also, I don't know if that's how you can determine drag completely. Gearing, the weight of the flywheel, and other things can factor into coasting deceleration other than drag. How stable is the car at speed? I'm talking like 100+ here. Does it feel like it's getting pushed and swayed a lot?

On my other cars, I used to shift into neutral when I was approaching an intersection with lights that were about to change to red or were red. I would shift back into drive once it changed to green and apply the accelerator. The first time I tried that on my wife's xDrive version BMW, it let me shift into neutral just fine, however it did NOT let me shift back into drive. I had to stop the car and shift back into drive. By now I figured out that I can shift into neutral and shift back into drive if I am decelerating by applying the breaks and just before I lift the foot off the break, I shift back into drive and then I can accelerate again. I don't do this very often anymore, at least not as often as I used to. It used to help a LOT in reducing the gas consumption (better gas millage) on my other cars!

The question I have ( and I've brought this up before) is the non-US version tuned different so that you would notice it in performance? (noticed the European Spec designation) |

I'm not sure about the x6 getting to M3 speed range. The M3 has already shown test numbers as fast (fastest I've seen is 4.1, though I usually go with edmunds since they seem to inflate less, and they got 4.3) or faster than the M5 with its 500hp, so I just have trouble seeing a car weighing more than a 1000 lbs more than the M5 getting much faster than mid 4's. turbos are deceptive though, always feels like you're going faster than you are. if you asked me most times, I feel like the 335 is faster than the M3, though every test would disagree with me.

If you watch the current gas consumption gauge on most non-turbo BMWs, it will tell you a different story.
