Punctured Auxiliary Radiator
Had an OOPSIE today! Driving on the highway and some debris was kicked up from a driver in front of me and punctured a radiator. Luckily this didn’t go through the windshield! Final destination moment. Any insight and advice on this would be appreciated.
This is an E70 x5 M, my brief research has led me to believe that this is an auxiliary radiator that got punctured? Any idea on the part number if that is the actual part name? Does the bumper have to come out for this or can it be accessed through the drivers side wheel well like I have seen on the G and F series cars? I will be assisting a friend who has some experience on older E30's so we both wont know much about this car going into it. Any other information recommendations I should know? - Correct way to drain the coolant if any is left (It seems like most of it is gone) - Correct way to refill the cooling system when it is complete? - I read somewhere that I have to do an AC Service evacuate & recharge? *This seems silly* Any help would be appreciated! Ouch, that's no bueno! But yeah, could have been worse x10! I don't know anything specific about that vehicle/motor, but drain and refill part shouldn't be hard. If like most Bimmer's, just hold push down on the accelerator pedal for 10 seconds and it'll start the procedure. Good luck, and report back!

RealOEM is great for confirming part numbers. I would guess you can do that from the wheel well without a problem, but not positive.
One note - the X5M is under non-LCI for all model years https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=17_0448 |
