X6 has power - fully charged battery - no crank
X6 has power - fully charged battery - no crank
This just occurred within the past 24 hours 2009 BMW X6 - 3.5L - 90K miles Without any warning, I insert the key and engine doesn't crank. I put the charger on overnight (battery is 2 yrs old) I have read some discussion about Car Access Relay. However I can't verify that the X6 model has this relay, I do find discussion about a Car Access Module, under the steering column. This sounds as if it's beyond the DIY I've also checked two fuses - labeled as Car Access in the fuse panel at the passenger footwell. My 745Li had a burp like this several years ago. I recall disconnecting the battery for one hour, and after reconnecting everything was fine What is everyone else's experience? I am trying to avoid a two, but I fear the worst Happy Holidays and for those of you that haven't been stranded by your Bimmer - happy motoring |

If you checked fuses under the hood, then you're probably in for a new starter.
Also check ground cable from battery to chassis.

if this "click" but do not crank then you have few attempts left before starter die.
take if to shop to rebuild starter. if it does not click then you have CAS - DME adaptations need to be reset. |

solution:
Connected a jumper cable from ground to the engine, and the car fired up. After some inspection, I discovered two ground cables mounted on the passenger side inner fender that looked corroded. I wire brushed the connector plate and the cable terminals, reconnected and the engine fired. I disconnected everything to test my theory, and no start. Reconnected and the engine fired up I'd like to know what both ground cables feed. One cable I identified on realoem.com as part # 12-42-7-574-962 "interference suppression band" What does the other cable feed? I've read issues about the ground cable to the starter motor, but I'm without ability to lift the vehicle at this time but will pursue.

Slow crank...barely turning over....
Drivers side rear strap in place but needs a clean... Anyone advise where else to look on the X6M for ground issues.... Replaced the battery...No current electrical issues or codes...driving great... |
