2011 BMW X6 parking brake cable question
Hey guys
Recently my X6’s parking brake cable popped off and the brake shoes and expanding lock broke off completely. I’ve bought a new set of brake shoes and springs as well as the locks and installed them. However, on the driver’s side, the parking brake cable isn’t hooking onto the brake pad like it usually should. The brake pads weren’t damaged by the way. Does anybody know why exactly it’s not hooking on? I know I sound like an amateur but I’m trying to save some money and DIY this job. Thanks. |

PM me w/email, I can send you the ISTA procedures I happen to capture, FWIW.
I've done this on several of my previous bmws with varying results, meaning it wasn't just adjust and done. I just did springs all around and rear brakes and decided to let the shop adjust the parking brake on my E70. I didn't want to deal with the hassle and I use the HOLD function every drive.

Good thing I grew up not depending on my Parking Brake... not even at stops. I ONLY use it when visiting my cousin in the Bay Area SF. That's it, pretty much. There is absolutely NO NEED to use the Hold Function - I never get that sleepy enough, to depress a brake pedal at long stops.
