Velos tune

All I can say is wow...

I'm impressed. Will be going to the Dyno this week, will post numbers.

2013 X5M
• Custom intake
• Muffler delete
• Fortified (higher hp rated A-E drum clutches, improved mechatronics flow and improved solenoids) 6hp26 transmission.
• Everything else is stock except the flash of course.

It's very snappy now. Quickest shifting auto I've ever driven.

That's great, I'm just curious, who sells all the parts to beef up our transmissions? Also is it still as smooth as stock with no jerkiness to drive around town?

Doesn't jerk around.

Here is who offers it, and who did mine.

Mustang 500 series AWD Dyno numbers:

433AWHP
497AWTQ

Dynojet would read higher, was told it would be 500 and 550~ respectively on a dynojet.

Send that to the tuner and see if they can adjust it. I'm on three revisions from my tuner before he said that's all he can do. I've got N54 friends and I'm hoping to work with someone to come up with upgraded fuel pumps like they have.

Velos is telling me these are solid and safe AFRs, also that the stock AFRs are leaner I'm the lower RPMs...

Did you get any validation on this?

My car comes back this week and my shop is strongly expressing that I pull the tune off or dial it back as it is generating too much power too quickly and not within safe params. and I'll subject myself to the same hazard as before.

They also build their own tunes and trust they know their stuff. They've worked with me the entire time through this engine replacement (as well as 2 previous axle replacements)- so they are trustworthy to me.

I know there are countless others running stg2 without issue- I run my car hard and cannot afford to have another failure.

The stock rods are rated for 600-700whp it seems.

Over time that 600-700 likely degrades to the numbers Velos tune puts out.

I've been discussing with Omar @ Velos for a while over email and he's adamant the tune has safe AFRs.

How much did the fix cost? What did they do?

A whole engine was needed. Warranty covered most all of it

I’m going to have to agree that those afr are really rich especially on a direct injected engine. Not dangerous, but looks like there might be more power available with some tweaks.

Without more data to see what their tune is doing..... it’s hard to see why they run it so rich.

I’d like to see logs of, timing per cylinder, mass air flow, engine speed, throttle angle, waste gate duty cycle, boost pressure specified, boost pressure actual, lambda, rail pressure, throttle duty cycle, and injection timing.

That way we could more closely examine their tuning strategy and see why the opted to dump fuel in their tune. Maybe we could get it tweaked to make even more power

I think you meant lean? My understanding is the AFR's are still above 13 at the higher RPM and need to be richer like under 12, no?
