I've posted this on another thread but NGK suggests 1 step for every 75-100hp added. I got schooled by the M5 guys (they've been pushing the limits of the S63TU farther than we can with the S63), but I've also since that post gone two steps colder since going from a stage 2+ flash only at the time to having added intake, downpipes, JB4 and meth injection.

At only 3psi more, I'd say one step colder at most otherwise you run the risk of fouling plugs. BMS did have the best price on plugs at the time I ordered, FYI.

I have over 30,000 miles on the NGK 97506's at stock 50i boost levels (I originally was going to install a JB4) without any issues and both my turbos seals are shot as noted by the nice wet oily residue coating the inside of intercoolers and inside the turbo inlet ports. I think they are pretty hard to foul or I would have been plauged with misfire codes and haven't had one since new eldor coils and these plugs and I flog the engine daily...

I rebuilt the wastegates some 20k miles ago but skipped the seals as I could only find cheap eBay rebuild kits...with 144,000 miles on them, I figured I would just get new turbos as not rebuilt as o found new units for only 1000 each vs 800 for rebuilt. Something to be said about having new diverter valves and wastegates actuators that came with it....The car runs and drives great still as it is but I want to push it with the JB4 and worn turbos leaking oil in it the combustion with really drop the octane level and reduce how much I can push it. Now just need some time so I can put in the new downpipes and turbos...works a monster right now...the Irony of life.....finally making enough to buy Toys but no time to play....

For a velos tune the that adds around 50hp what would folks recommend for plugs? 5992 or 97506?

I thought about it but I have this idea for a new intake manifold idea and didnt want aftermarket turbos to skew the numbers. I just picked up a 3D printer large enough to make the molds for the carbon fiber so in the next few months will see if works...

What's the torque spec on the spark plugs?

I'm seeing 30NM on TIS....seems a bit much..I would have assumed 18ft/lb is enough.

I don't recall where I read but i thought it was 23nm/17lbs.

I did this but my plugs were backing out on their own somehow and causing misfires

So I tq'ed to 30

For your awareness the 5992 was replaced with the 95770 (ILZKBR7B8DG) for one step colder. There is also a backorder which is why BMS is only selling 2-step colder right now. I went with the 5992 when they were still being used and never had any issue. But BMS is recommending everyone do the 97506 (SILZKBR8D8S) gapped to 0.020".

I recently got a TTFS stage 1 tune. Since our weather is hot but with good 98ron/93aki from pump was wondering if i should go for the 95770 plugs. Right now i Have the OE plugs replaced 10k kms ago on my X5M.

almost all stage1's on any brand is ok for keeping and replacing with OEMs.. but do you have the logs of stock and stage 1 difference on boost and EGT at least on your X5M? or gauges you can put eye on? S63 tends to create heat in its nature and i believe the best thing you can do for hot climates, keeping the radiators and intercoolers "clean" not blocked by pipes, plates etc.. by a gauge or an app etc. checking the EGT when you re pushing can save the engine.. if i were you i d get more information on the boost levels and EGT, according to that i d decide on changing the plugs after they re done as long as i stick with stage 1 software.. even if assuming there is not much cold in Bahrain.. colder spark plugs means simply more insulation.. and one way or another plug tips needs to be between 500-800c.. but first you need more information about whats going with temps on your car's engine at the moment..

Great feedback brother. Ok so i did a full coolant swap 10k kms ago, always clean my coolers etc at least once a month from the outside. going to install lower temp thermostat from ECS after 2000km at oil change interval. I will fidn out from TTFS the boost level etc.

Sorry I didn't update this but I finally installed it.

I went with two step colder... NGK 97506 gapped to .022

The motor has 10k on it, so when I pulled the stock plugs they were decent...but the coils were definitely original, 80k mileage.

I went ahead and ordered 8 Eldor coils and put those in a week later.

It runs fine, have not had any misfires.

I'm running the Velos stage 2 flash.
