These reviews aren’t making me really want to buy this for my m.
I have a 335d that I purchased the xhp tune for. It was a very minor improvement and it actually makes the tranny worse when cold, feels more like a manual that someone dropped the clutch a little too quick and a bit lurchy. |

I would like to give this a try as well, but am disappointed in the feedback from all the owners who have allegedly installed it. There's a real lack of detail. Plus I find it interesting that some will talk about how generally amazing it is, and then the next reviewer will say its a waste of money and didn't do anything to their X5M.
I'd just like to get some quality feedback! |

All drivers are different in the way they control the vehicle and transmission, so you're not going to get a blanket "it's better".
I'm fairly aggressive in throttle and transmission changes, so for me, I noticed an improvement straight away in converter lock-up, with increased response and less muddy feel on shift. I'm about to run the customisation module to adjust all the shift points, and have requested xHP look into a function where the TCU won't auto-shift within a set period of time after a manual change in auto mode. Is it going to make your car quicker? Perhaps marginally. Will it make your driving experience better? Potentially, depending on how you drive and tweak it accordingly. It's not designed to be a "gives you xxx HP gain" type modification, merely giving you greater control over your TCU, and unless you're a tinkerer, you're not really going to get the full benefit from the flash.

Just finished flashing my X6M to stage 3. During the first install it popped up so many malfunction codes...got me worried. Then once done, it said to turn on ignition. I turned it on and car was shaking a lot more during idle. I went to install the flash stage 3....once done. Turned on car, seems ok at idle...all the errors on dash went away. Took it for a test drive....seems ok. In S mode i think the car shifted a bit more aggressive....i'll report back when I go for a longer drive tomorrow to swap out my FRM module.

I went straight to the stage 3 and think it made a big difference in how the truck drives. Been running it for around 3 months now. In my opinion, shifting behavior is more sporty, it hangs onto gears longer when under medium to heavy throttle and “revs” out more. It still shifts to the next gear quickly when under light throttle, as stock would, but overall it drives better than before. Not sure if there is a definitive improvement in 0-60 times, but I’m pretty pleased.

Hows it feel in normal (non-M or Sport mode), specifically driving up hills? I can't stand how it's ALWAYS trying to go into 6th gear and bogs...I did NOT buy this truck for mileage. Sometimes Sport is too agressive for daily driving but it's the only way to make it hold 5th when I shift down manually without it wanting to put itself back into 6th moments later!

It does have adjustments you can make to shift points, shift firmness, and some other stuff, haven’t played with them too much, but lots of customization possible. If you haven’t seen these screens, PM me and I can send them to you, might help your decision.

I'm always in M mode as well, it's Sport I tend to avoid unless I'm driving aggressively or going up hills so it'll stop going into 6th. I'd be interested in those screenshots though :-)

TCU stuck in Boot-Mode (E71 X6M 6 speed AT)
Hello everyone, I have an issue i was hoping for help.. I downloaded the xHD flash tool, paid for the licenses (stage 3). I backed up my TCU, it took 40 min no issues. hooked up through USB INPA cable. The app connected to my car fine and recognized the VIN, etc. Issue happened when i tried to install the XHd flasher tool... hooked it up to a battery tender, all lights off, radio off. started to install as required to flash the stage 3 tune. the Android unit for some reason 10 seconds into the install rebooted. Now it says that the TCU is in Boot-Mode to do an emergency uninstall. I went to try the emergency flash procedure same issue happened again it rebooted my android device 10 seconds in, last message form the flashing was "waiting for Can Bus readiness.. then my Android device reboots. My SAV has all kinds of lights on the dash pertaining to the transmission (4x4). Also, Where would the backiup file be stored on the Android device, I can try another device to see if that works What can i do now, please help please move to the proper section if needed - thx Last edited by ACE1971; 05-13-2019 at 01:04 PM.. I think so, no regrets on purchasing it.

Issue solved,
I was using an AVINUSA 10.25" android screen (built-in) to flash. I am not bashing AVINUSA for the error but am sharing my experience. NO harm was caused am was able to fix this quickly. The XHP app shuts down the CanBus prior to flashing the transmission (causing the head unit to reboot as it is tied into the CanBus system). I was able to use a separate tablet and transfer the backup file created in the AVINUSA head unit. Then emergency flash back to stock and start over. Everything worked perfectly - no more issues. Definitely made an improvement. Better kick down and faster shifts. |
