2012 vs. 2013
Hello All,
Considering an E70. There are a few with 60kms being sold at BMW. However, just to confirm the 2012 is the N54 and the 2013 is the N55 correct, in the 35i? The 2012 that I am looking at had quite a bit of warranty work done to it. One owner with service records.

Ok, good! Then, why is the 2013 more reliable? In this forum and other online forums, the 2012 had more bugs.

I also don't recall the 2012's having or being known for issues. Unless your mistaken it for the 50i which is the V8. It seemed more bugs with the early 2011 LCI and pre LCI. But that was its first year with new drive train. The N55 has certain issues that will crop up but all N55 have those issues even with the new ones. They come with age . Usually the longer the engine is made the more bugs get removed. The n55 had a few issues with oil leaks and such but nowhere near the issues the N54 had. The N54 and N55 are also very close to the same engine but a few changes mostly with the turbo. |

I am referring to the 35i. In my readings, the 2013 always seemed the most reliable. I wouldn't touch a BMW v8 with a ten foot pole, no offence to the members with them. I am glad that you are having great success with your 2012. I'm not new to BMW, I was just curious. Other than my E46, I've always had the N52.

I've been on this forum a long time, and don't recall reading anything here about 2013 35i's being more reliable that 2012's. They're the same vehicle.
You can save some $ buying a 2012, but you might find a 2013 with some CPO remaining? |

I have a late model 2012 35i and in the 2 years I've owned it, other than the recall work done I haven't had any issues. I have 112xxx kms on it now.
