Buying advice- CPO 2011 35d 51k miles $33k
Last 7 on the vin is L661551
Does this seem like a good deal? Even though the CPO is only for another 2 years? |

Seems high to me given the lack of packages & options - Sport & Convenience Packages only….and nothing else. Including the awful 2011 base audio (S645A). It's a later model 2011 diesel so it does have the LED coronas (6/7/2011 build date), but otherwise it's devoid of options.

If you are willing to drop $33k and are patient you can definitely find a vehicle with more options. I've mentioned it to other people in the past but you really should test drive an X5 with sport seats vs one with multi-contoured seats. I personally find the sport seats uncomfortable so one of my primary requirements when looking was to have the better seats. Of course this option alone made my search all that more difficult but worth it.
A few other options to look out for include HUD (head up display), heated steering wheel, multi-contoured seats, active seats, ventilated seats, massaging driver seat, side view cameras, lane departure assist, 3rd row, rear climate control, leather dash/door panels, adaptive drive (very rare on 35d models), and I'm sure I'm missing a couple more. |

Packages - Sport Premium Cold Weather Technology Premium Sound Active Ventilated Seats (this would include both the Multi-Contour and massaging feature, plus ventilation of course. Massaging for driver only) Rear Climate Options - HUD (standalone option in 2011, part of Technology package in 2012+) Side view cameras (standalone option in 2011, part of Technology package in 2012+) Front heated seats (also part of Cold Weather Package - became standard equipment in 2012+) Rear heated seats (standalone option on 2011's, part of Cold Weather in 2012+) Multi-Contour Seats (also part of Active Ventilated Seat Package) 3rd row seats Leather dash Adaptive drive Rear seat entertainment Lane departure warning Comfort Access keyless entry Satellite radio (also part of Premium Sound Package) iPod/USB adapter (also part of Premium Sound Package) Park distance control (also part of Technology Package) Navigation (also part of Technology Package) BMW Assist w/ Bluetooth (also part of Premium Package) For 2012 models, the package configurations changed and more stuff became standard - http://www.bmwusanews.com/newsreleas...E88836?&id=908 I think you need to find one with the Sport Package. I don't know the diesel trims like I do the gas models - for instance on the 35i there's a base, premium, Sport, & M Sport. Base had 18's, Premium 19's, & Sport/M Sport 19's with optional 20's. For the diesel it looks like just the standard/base model with 18's, or the Sport Activity model, which would have 19's standard, optional 20's I believe. Again, not 100% up to speed on the 35d trims and which wheels came with them. |

I got it from Lucky Motors in Villa Park, IL. They get a lot of there inventory from auctions in Florida. It was not a CPO, i bought the ex. warranty from the used lot dealership. I haggled the asking price down $700.

Any thoughts on this? http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invento...ting=120507174
Figure I could try to lowball with a 30K offer since it's been on the market for a few weeks and buy an extended warranty through route 66? |

Color is Black Sapphire Metallic BTW, not Carbon Black as the ad mentions (Carbon is only available w/ the M Sport Package or X5M). Try for 30K - it is a 2012 so will command more $ than an '11, but miles are high for a late 2012 build like this one (build date 9/10/2012 - hasn't even been on the road 3 years yet). Keep us posted |

Here's a super loaded 2012 diesel with CPO for $40K (PAX5 posted in the other forum):
http://www.motorwerksbmwbarrington.c...zw0c51cl673104 has AD, 3rd row, active seats, cold weather, hi-tech pkg, LDW, rear entertainment. I'd bought this in a heart beat if it was available last November. |

Missing packages - Cold Weather (no so heated steering wheel, heated rear seats - front heat seating is standard on 2012+, & no headlight washers) Active Ventilated Seat (it has the multi-contour seats - they're just not ventilated, and not 'active' which is the massaging feature on the driver's seat) Missing options - Adaptive drive Leather dashboard Lane departure warning Active cruise Rear seat entertainment 3rd row seating 20 inch wheels BMW Apps Other than 20 inch wheels (easy fo find on the forums) and BMW Apps (which I believe can be coded?) most of the missing options aren't that common anyways. Coming from a 4 Runner, this one likely has all you'll need... |

You'll need to make a decision which options are a "must have" and which are just toys. I have a bunch of "toys" on mine which are fun to show your friends, but that I don't use 90% of the time.

So much for them not wanting to haggle last Saturday, they dropped the price to $31k today, seems like a pretty good deal. May jump on it.
