the Cayman R was the only other thing i was considering outside of a 1M and the 1M was more enjoyable for my needs; the prices were about the same. It's not a downgrade for sure; just a different type of car. Either way both are more enjoyable than an E9X M3, IMO. I think if NA engines are a priority than the E9X M3 is a great car for that; but just very heavy.... |

imo, you buy a 1M to go with the CS, not to replace the CS. you need them both.

The kind you find in a cracker jack box... ;-)
Just speaking out of experience as an instructor at two lapping clubs, if the goal is to get an affordable track car, and decent daily driver. Again OP did not mention much background info on useage pattern, price range, so Im just shooting in the dark here.

A lotus. Not sure if you can still get newish exiges in Canada still. USA the last model year was 2011. That alfa seems too much of a handful and not as refined from the reviews compared to the Lotus. The 1M seems like a downgrade to me (no offence intended think its overpriced and overhyped).

Well except for:
"This is a sexy, mid-engined Italian exotic carved down to affordable scale, and it's available as a coupe or with a targa top. Powered by a 237-hp turbo four and weighing less than 2500 pounds, its zippy power-to-weight ratio matches its zippy steering ratio; sadly, only a six-speed automatic is available."

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

Thanks for all the replies and thoughts:
here's a little more info: my budget is as I said "similar money" so in the 70 to 80k CDN range (this rules out 991's, in Canada the 2012's are still 95-100k) MUST be manual it is not a daily driver, but it is my only car so it has to have a level of practicality to it I will not be tracking the car I want something with a good 3 years warranty so either new or cpo I considered the evora before getting my CS, but I liked the CS better I am contemplating ordering another CS, but it seems kinda boring to get the same car again. the only other car that has me intrigued is the M2, but I am really a turbo hater, I am very sensitive to lag and can feel it and dislike it even on the newer "virtually no lag" turbos...I drove a m235i and while I liked it overall the lag still annoyed me |
