I have an X5 5.0 with 19 inch wheels 285/45/19 back and 255/50/19 front
I have summer sport tires and could hardly move in 1/2 inch of snow I was wondering what would be an ideal tire for the winter i need performance as well as some traction should i go with snow tires or all season? What are pros and cons of each can you recommend a brand and size thanks |

i am well aware of different gallons. However Canadians will use US gallons when discussing mpg rarely do Canadians use british gallons for anything since liters are a much simpler unit of measurement. I am quoting US gallons My current after a week of city driving is 17.1mpg and so you can convert it yourself that's 13.7L/100km Last edited by Sylvan Lake V35; 12-11-2013 at 12:51 PM.. |

I'm definitely taking my 50i in then. I'm lucky if I see 14 and I babied the last tankful with my tune disabled.
I live in the leafy suburbs surrounded by fields. No city driving but no real highway either.

2010 X5M, 21K miles. Average city/highway 15.2 mpg since it was new - spirited driving.
When wife did most of driving average up was about 16.5mpg. I get about 17 on the highway at 80-90 mph. Wife gets over 19 mpg 70-80 mph. |

I have been lucky avoiding downtown rush hour....I just drove from Calgary to Sylvan lake today the hi ways suck. In town is worse with all of the snow build up on side streets

What do you get with your diesel? I average 24mpg I haven't re-set it in months and it sees mostly town driving. I have got 30mpg on hiway trips.

Sorry I worded it wrong British gallons or US gallons is simpler, I am correct in the fact that Canada with use US gallons when discussing fuel mileage. US gallon 3.7L British gallons are 4.5L and a dry gallon is 4.4L but isn't used to measure liquid.

So w/ 21" 215s I'm getting about 22mpg (mostly urban driving in the DC area). I got about 25mpg on a recent road trip to FL (fully loaded w/ myself/wife/3 kids & accompanying luggage)
