Dinan or Vorsteiner Exhaust for X5M
Hey,
I've narrowed it down to either the Dinan or Vorsteiner exhaust for my X5M. They both cost the same, but the Vorsteiner is a full system and Dinan is the muffler unit only. What would you choose? I think the sound is very similar. |

I went with dinan and absolutely love it. Totally fit my needs for being significantly louder than stock(in tunnels it sounds awesome), free flowing, and not obnoxious loud. I have not experience with vorsteiner and havent heard it in person so I cant comment on that

I'm going with megan myself. Extremely cheap and gets the job done. Alot of good reviews on it as well.

although the megan is very well priced, i saw one installed and it did look cheap. i dont know what it was, but it just didnt look that good.
talk about obnoxious loud...I had an eisenmann race installed, had it for 3 weeks and that was that. way too loud. Personally, I like the looks of the vorsteiner. Also, do they both (dinan and vorsteiner) work with the vacuum valves? must be nice to have the option between quiet and loud. |

I didn't even know Vorsteiner offered exhaust. I'd agree to go with Akra. Not sure how it sounds, but it looks INSANE with those beautiful carbon tips.

According to Sven @Eisenmann, the Race version for the X6M is MUCH quiter than the race for the M3 due to the X6M's turbos. I just ordered the E-Race for my beast and can't wait to get it installed next month.

I'm sorry, but no muffler is worth 3-6k. They don't add horsepower, just sound, and you can change the sound for much less money.

much more quiet?? are you in for a surprise. the E-race ruins the car. Like i said, i bought mine used, and the guy who i bought it from had purchased it from another person used. So by the time i had it installed, it was the 3rd car it had been on. The two people who had it on their car before me had it on only for a month or so and i thought "wow seriously? whats wrong with them? who doesn't want a raging race sound?." then i installed it on my x5m, and after two weeks, yes just two weeks i went back to my stock exhaust sold the e-race to its 4th owner through craigslist, and the person who bought it off me...well they only had it on from a month or so and then it was back on craigslist for sale...not worth it, but i really hope u like it enough to keep it on.

Run run run away from Vorsteiner! I have had nothing but poor experiences with them. Eisenmann Race is where it's at for me!
Just my two cents. Best of luck!

Any pictures and sound clips?
I'm considering same setup and had hard time finding good pictures and sound clips (saw a couple of very low quality compare to Akra or IND's Eisenmann).

To be honest, my favourite muffler only alternative is the Remus exhaust. have a listen on utube. I also think its vital to have a system and utilizes the vacuum valves.
