H&R lowering height
I can't seem to find a thread that compares the ride height of 1.2" drop vs 2.0" drop.
I am thinking about lowering my X6 with 2.0" front & 1.2" back. Many of our members' ride look really nice with a 2.0" drop. However, I am just a little curious: I did a measurement of the stock ride height, my gap between the wheel and the fender is about 3.5", both front and back. If I upgraded to H&R 2.0/1.2, wouldn't that make it uneven? The front gap should become 1.5", while the back becomes 2.3". The rear gap would be a lot bigger than the front. For those who has installed 2.0 front/1.2 rear, do you see this "un-eveness" between the front and rear gaps? |

I dont have personal experiance with H&R spring, but I heard it feels a little bouncy when driving on highway speed, I guess its due to the oem shocks can't handle the lower ride, that's why I go with KW V3, and I love how its ride but the only down side is loosing the EDC.

That danymic drive thing is awefull i didn't try it yet on the x6 but the 550d with dynamic drive is by far the worst car i've ever driven. It is wiggeling around its central axis all the time while cruising on the highway. I think it is a shame bmw does dare to sell something that bad. Even my hummer feels like a sportscar compared to that. On the x6 50d i ordered i want to remove it by putting the kw v3 so to me the removal of the edc is the purpose

I installed h&r lowering springs earlier this week. I got the 1.2" drop but they went a little more than that. Almost like 1.5-1.75" after the car rested a bit in the springs. The links that came with the kit was set to 6.5cm which was suppose to give the rear a 1" drop. Upon Installation, it dropped a LOT more than 1". So I lengthened my links by .25cm more and now it is quite perfect.
As for the ride quality, rear is a bit more bouncy but barely noticeable. All in all, it rides very much like a stock vehicle but remains more flat going around curves at a high rate. The install was fairly straight forward too. Pm me if you want more info. Hope this helps |

Bottom line is when you drop the ride with only a spring - you are keeping the factory shocks which are now not designed to match up to the increased spring coil tension which leads to a stiffer ride.
The HR springs come in 2 drop sizes. The more aggressive drop absolutely sucks arse. Massive bounce and too stiff The less aggressive drop is ok - but still stiffer than stock. I tried both and was unsatisfied. I went with KW v3 as the other poster has done, and it's as comfy, more than stock and you can play with the ride height infinitely. You can also adjust the dampening and rebound to be as stiff as hell or buttery smooth. Bottom line is if you have a $100k truck don't cheap out some $200 springs. This beast has evolved and is track ready with the KW v3. Kinda like sex with a condom. Not bad until you take the latex off.

Had mine dropped about a week ago. Very nice. Went with H&R's with 1.2" front and 1.0" back and it is fine. Not to bouncy or stiff at all. Much flatter going thru corners also and dynamic handling such as curves and changing elevations. I just towed my other car 2200m with the X6 pulling all the way and no problems what so ever. Springs handled the job pretty well. After offloading the car carrier and car it was really good...could tell the difference in the ride. Overall happy I did it.
