Few, now I can take delivery without thinking our car was an isolated mistake. I am intending to have the V8 exhaust tips retrofitted anyway. Lets see if they come in black. And if not - powder coat. Regards, Drp |

Also, there are pictures on cars.com of some V8s with M sport and the exhaust does not look blacked out.

Update on parts issue
I've ordered the M door sills. The dealer's computer cannot confirm the color of the fog light surrounds. But since there is only one choice, odds are its not black. Then we have the exhaust issue. Black chrome tips can be ordered but I'm not going that route. Which brings me to a question for fellow board members...
When has BMW ever offered a car under the M auspices (M technik, M-sport and now M performance pack) that didn't include a sportier exhaust? Right? My 550i came with a "sport" muffler that I believe simply deleted the valve that opens as you rev so that it was throaty at start up as well. I'm aware that I can tie up the exhaust valve on the 3.5i to keep the valve open. I'll give it a try b/c you pay $4,400 for an M performance car with 330 ft. lbs. of torque and its sounds like a Corolla when you start it up! I may take a credit for the black exhaust tips and use it toward the performance muffler for the car which is ... $2k OUCH and should have been included in the M performance package already... It has black V8 exhaust tips and comes with primered surrounds that have to be installed to accommodate the larger exhausts tips. I'll continue to post info. on this as it may effect other X6 owners who order the M pack. Regards, DRP |

Thank you for the info, since I have also ordered a 2013 X6 35i with M performance package. Did you recieve a credit for the M door sills or are you paying out of pocket? Also were you able to confirm that it has the additional 15 HP that is suppose to come with the M package?

The M door sills shown arent for a 2013. RealOEM doesnt have 2013 cars loaded into their system yet. Build dates end on 2/2012 for the X6. I wouldnt go by that yet.

My dealer just shared this with me. It is from their system - shows price/cost of the M Perf Package and everything you get with it. Does not appear that door sills and/or blacked out exhaust/front trim are part of it. Does confirm you can get Multi-contour seats however. Still trying to find out what HP option 767 gets you.
M Performance Package (ZMX) $4,400 $3,900 2LM 20" wheels (performance tires) x x 330 Sport Package x x 481 Sport seats x $0 or 456 Multi-contour seats $950 std 760 Shadowline exterior trim x x 767 M Performance Package x x 775 Anthracite headliner x x 7XA M Sports leather steering wheel w/ paddle shifters

Pex5 got his X6 with M foot rest and stainless steel pedals. I don't see these in the list.
According to BMWUSA.com, It clearly says that M Performance Package – includes black chrome exhaust tips, M door-sill finishers, M footrest and stainless steel pedals. I think "767 M Performance Package" includes them. Quote:

You're right RealOEM doesn't have 2013 but The M door sills for 2013 will be the same as the part #s above.
In addition, it shows LED Headlights and Fog light trim for LCI X6. These are 2013's parts. Last edited by udmx6; 04-30-2012 at 07:41 PM.. |

Here you go!
Apparently these are in the ordering guide as well (I've updated it - it is a sticky at the top of the forum). But these are screen shots directly from the dealers system. Pex5 - you can use this to get your stuff!
PS - the second attachment says it is impossible to get AS without the Dynamic Handling Package. Which is weird cause I thought you said you got it?

This is a botch job right?
Below is the original bulletin from BMW which clearly states that the M performance package will include everything that the old sports package had and more..(the prior sports package had adaptive drive).
Then in mid February they announced a new package that included dynamic drive and active steering...Hmm. Then they released the order guide which corresponds to build-your-own which lists the M bits, black fog lights surrounds and exhaust tips etc... which showed that no adaptive drive was included (this induced me to order the M pack - odd I know). THEN -- days after build your own updated to the LCI I built our car and noticed that active steering was a standalone no cost option...? Seemed like a typo.? I called my SA and he added it to the order and there was no change in price..? The car has it - it was on the window sticker and I know what it feels like since we had it on our X5 we turned in. This isn't rocket science deciding what to offer on an M performance pack. It really is sloppy at best - without any apparent justification. I wonder if this has ever happened with any other options packages on other BMW models? Also, P.S. I think I have to change the exhaust. I tied the flap open and it went from lexus to mazda. You cannot have this hunk wedge of a car on massive rubber and wheels with that anemic exhaust note on startup.... If I'm not mistaken for the last year the M sport X5 3.5 has had a sport exhaust? Not sure if that's the same as the BMW performance exhaust? Last edited by Pex5; 05-01-2012 at 03:01 PM.. |

Anybody installed BMW OEM Performance silencer system?
BMW Performance silencer system The BMW Performance silencer system is known for its characterful sound and emphasizes the sporty driving experience. The two tailpipes in matt black stainless steel also impress with their sophisticated, high-tech appearance. The BMW Performance silencer system is available for BMW X6 models with 6-cylinder petrol engines. |

The real concession to getting better gas mileage isn't losing power, its loosing that V8 sound.... P.S. I'm in the process of locating a perf. silencer as pictured above - I'm told there is a freeze on the part..? |

Pex, the money you'll spend on an OEM exhaust from BMW Performance, you could have just gotten the 8 cyl X6, no? I assume it would be $3500 for the exhaust. Amortize that $3500 over a 36 month lease and your in X6 5.0 range

It wasn't a money issue with the engine change, but your point it well made. The muffler kit is $1,900.00 full list. I can get it installed for @ $1,750.00. It's an hour labor, so presumably it can be removed for an hours labor as well at lease turn in and ebay it for half of what it costs. "Fast & Furious" mods sell like wildfire. I put a Dinan exhaust on my 550 and hated the drone. I sold it within a month and lost $200... My only concern about the sport exhaust (which comes on the X5 m sport 35i) is that its very nasally (its that 335is 6 cyl sound) when accelerating on the highway and the valve opens. Its hard to believe if you're used to a V8 X6, but the 3.5 with this 8 speed rides like a 7 on the highway. Its downright quiet at 100 @2000k rpms. But the Toyota startup has gotta go. DRP |
