hands down in that 100ish range, the Karcher 1700 is best of breed. From there, visit obsessedgarage to accessorize it with quality connectors, wand, hose.
I just upgraded from my 1700 to a kranzle. It was an absolute workhouse. Obviously my new kranzle is in a totally different class. |

this one turn on/off and is quiet enough that you could talk to someone next to you when it is running. then, it shuts off for you to wash your car and enjoy the day.

yea, the delta on the 1622(same basic chassis, but always on) or the OG 1322ts(turns on when you pull trigger) is like $60. If I'm going to spend damn near $1k on a PW, I was more than happy to get the 1322ts(in my personal buying instance anyways) Either will be absolutely kick ass though! Hell, even my $100 1700 Karcher cube was excellent for the weekend car wash. |

Make sure the one you pick you can swap out the hose and gun. Swapping out those will make any cheapo pressure washer feel a hell of a lot better. And plus side is when the washer breaks or you're ready to upgrade you can take the nice hose and gun and put it on the new one.
Get a kobrajet hose and either an MTM or Mosmatic gun. |

After using my buddy's Husky (UGH! Problematic and leaked so badly I got more water on myself than the garage floor) and looking at my budget, I'm sort of leaning towards a Karcher-- seems a reasonable compromise.
I'm more or less pressure washer illiterate, so a few questions (and +/- $300 is probably around the maximum I'd like to spend). Use will be occasional siding wash (two stories), spiders under the eaves, Trex/concrete cleaning, and of course (and most importantly) washing my M2C. 1. Gas vs. Electric? (I haven't had good luck with gas widgets if they have to be pre-mixed). 2. Hose reel-- great idea or gimmick? My storage space is *significantly* limited. 3. Do any of them have "instant on/off" functionality? Seems like a good idea from a noise and pump life standpoint. 4. Specific Karcher model recommendations? Thanks-- I can't afford (translation: The Minister of War and Finance would KILL me) $1200, but I don't want to buy a "throw-away" junk model-- I tried that once with Harbor Freight and it didn't end well. I went to use mine a couple weeks ago and the gas tank was rusted. It was 20 years old. I read this thread and did a ton of other research and just could not go with an electric. This is the one I picked. I also got a surface cleaner. I could not be happier. I have done my entire driveway, sidewalk, brick wall, front porch and deck.

Just like with cars, electric just doesn't cut it for me. Gotta go gas. Have a Craftsman 3200 psi that I have used weekly for 2 years now, and the only maintenance is to add oil every blue moon. Bought it at Lowes for $349, runs like a top, and it was worth every penny. Went through 2 electric units in the 3 years prior. Never going back to electric. .02, fwiw.

I got the Subaru one from Costco last year, they should still have it (couldn't find it online). I think it was like $300. I'm really happy with it. I use it with my Torq foam cannon for car washing. But also for pressure washing driveways (it came with this cool attachment that makes cleaning driveways super easy)
