Isnt the ground about to freeze solid at any moment where you are at this time of year, Lups?
Dropping your kid in a hole to size up how much progress you have made. Oh man, that's amazing. Too funny. |

Don't worry, as mentioned, that digging project is now a matter pride and that has died in the hole. My new plan is to finish the hard side of the hundred year old side of the house, and then get an excavator and never talk about the whole thing again. That's why that tiny bit there that's actually in the sand and not in clay and me bitching about THAT is so fucking hilarious. As soon as the new sewer is done, I can go and renovate the insides. There is a mild chance I'll never look at an other shovel the same after a month.

Yesterday I was looking at that pic back home to motivate myself to go back to that stupid hole. I got a half a day off because when I realized what the kid was holding I hurt them more because of laughing. It's my great aunt's old house it's been in the family for over a hundred years and though it's ugly as hell and everything is broken now, I just love it and it absolutely needs to be fixed. Not my first insane project but maybe this will slap the stupid out of me finally!

I used to do artillery and it required a lot of digging every time we setup the guns. I know how deep 6 ft is and I can't imagine digging any damn thing down to 8 ft manually. I rather throw the money down the drain for some a**hole to come dig that up. I have PTSD when I see a pick axe or shovel. Forget it.

This city has no free excavators. They're building a train thingy system here so this is the worst time to try to find anyone remotely reliable to do the job.
Anyway, 4.30 am, I have to run off to my stupid project. I can't break the basement floor when the kids are there so for the next four hours rock music is not the loudest thing close to me! At this pace, in two weeks I'll be starting the interior! Jei! Night to you all!

Those getting lost to other people's yards is a huge issue. I sure hope I don't have to let one dig its way to freedom but I think realistically before next spring that won't happen. I'll do the old side by hand, the new side can wait till next year.

You're just jealous!
I'm banned by family law from touching the drill hammer thingy that you use to destroy concrete floors (there was an incident ) so like a normal person, I do that in secret. Jei! At this rate, bathrooms next week, at least temporary ones, and if I manage to just fix the interior roof, I can start a kitchen! When I'm not in a ditch, I sure am an optimist!
