Found this after an oil change

Found it at the bottom of the oil drain receptacle. Any ideas? Definitely a clip ear, but does the inside of the engine actually have plastic clips in it?

You made me go check mine. You meant ears, right?
Wait a minutes, I thing you're talking about the plastic runners the cam chain slides on, right?

Well sure enough, dealer isn't sure where the part is from. The techs' recommendation?
It making noise or running bad, so leave it alone. Or pay $800 to tear it apart looking for the culprit.

What makes you say that? Have you seen clip ears on the chain guides of a 3 litre?
