if you want BMW's extended warranty, contact Jeff Steel at Passport BMW. He gave me the best quote when I was shopping for mine. I ended up buying Route 66's Easy Street plan, which ended up being nearly half the price for more than double the coverage (I'd encourage you to look at that too, though I'm not sure if they cover "M" vehicles).

I talked to Jeff Steel as well. Very knowledgeable about BMW coverage and will likely beat prices of your local dealer for BMW plans. I ended up going with Easy Care (used Asheville NC BMW) b/c it covered my M and price was much better for similar coverage as BMW. I liked it because I seemed easier to decide on length of coverage/mileage and deductible amount. I choose $250 deductible which saved a good bit on upfront cost of plan. PS- just used my Easy Care plan today as matter of fact b/c comfort access wasn't working on driver door. SA said one of easiest to deal with and took less than 10 minutes to get approved. FYI-Would have cost about $600 to fix if no Ext Warranty.

Does anybody knows what is the money difference if u buy extended warranty before the existing warranty runs out vs after it expires? I spoke to my service adviser this morning while leaving the car for injectors recall and he mentioned to be careful with 3rd parties as even manufactures warranty only covers for about 80%.

A rep from Route 66 said some credit union plans with them cover X5s and X5Ms and some don't. FCUU in Texas covers it. I haven't found a local one here in northern VA that does. So getting coverage with Route 66 for an X5 or an X5M is available.
My issue is the coverage. I've read it only covers up to $3000. If that's the car, then it might not be worth it. If it's more coverage then it might be worth it considering the coverage cost $3100. Anyone know of any coverage limits? |

Been reading the posts on Route 66 and Easy Care. I just purchased a used 2011 X5 50i w/64k miles. Looking for an extended warranty that has the longest mileage coverage and works well with repair shops. I do a lot of commuting. Also, a plan with a good up front cost is welcomed as well. thanks! Spoke with Jeff at Passport. Very knowledgeable and good pricing. The plus I see with the BMW warranty is that if you sell the car before the end of the term they will prorate and refund the difference based on time remaining. Not sure the 3rd party plans allows this?

Pretty sure Easy care will prorate it terminate contract. Easy Care is transferable if you sell your vehicle as well.

Factory warranty on my 2013 X5M was expiring on May 10, 2016.
I bought BMW Powertrain Plus warranty on May 9, 2016 From May 10, 2016 Until May 10, 2019 3 years/100000 miles - $4360.00 Not cheap but I thought it's worth it! |
