Becker DPs
Good morning everyone!
Has anyone installed Becker Downpipes for their N63? If so, care to share your thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Becker-Down-...fdb38b&vxp=mtr I'm looking to upgrade DPs but I honestly don't want to spend $1000+ on AR/AA DPs... All parts are so expensive on N63! When I had my 335is N54, BMS DPs were under $300... Why are parts for N63 so expensive? =( Anyways, please share your thoughts on Becker DPs. It seems too good to be true for $200! |

parts for our engine are a bit over priced, but 200 for DPs will almost certainly be bad quality. The labour it takes to install DP in the car is somewhat significant and if it was me, the last thing i want is to have a cracked weld or the piping rusts away in a short time. Not saying it will for sure happen, but usually you get what you pay

Someone in the Mercedes forums has ordered and installed Becker Performance Exhaust and gave a full detailed review of the product. When it arrived, it seemed to be in good shape. During installation he mentioned that the match was a perfect fit but when I saw the before and after video, it didn't seem to make any difference in sound. I would post the link where I found the video but I forgot to save it at the time and it's going to take a me a while to search again... So if anyone else was interested/curious about the Becker Performance DPs for N63, it is a descent quality made product but there is not much of a difference in performance or the sound of your exhaust after the installation. I hope this helps some of your decision making process since I have been researching these DPs for a while. |

I just read the description on these and it says N63 only, but how is that possible since it seems all the other brands of DP's are universal throughout all the TT platforms.

Installed on an F10, he bought the resonator verison while I'm curious about the non-resonator version, so I might be the guinnea pig for our application. - http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1114703

I went from stock to catless with a Stage 2 overnight though, power is definitely night and day now as the backend feels like it wants to wag its tail on the wet onramp I use everyday...it's quite fun. As most others with a tune have noted, non-M mode now feels life like M mode but better, M mode the throttle response is more instant, merging and passing is easier and overall more fun. Naturally it's gotten old now, so now I want more...time to look into meth and more aggressive tuning :-)

Just purchased a set.... And the Auction said its for the X6M but in the Description it said only for the N63....
I emailed them asking them to clarify because the X5/X6M has the S63 not the N63 |

I did some comparisons on www.realoem.com between the N63 and S63 stock cats, and they visually look the same. Someone else ordered a set before and tried them in his S63 and said they were like 1-2" too short.

Correct, but there's a section of pipe after the cats, about 1' long that might be different...which just now popped into my head. Double check that as well. Even if we've gotta replace some pipe, that's still WAY less getting the pipes and Beckers vs the other aftermarket options out there.

Damn james, Im sorry, I totally forgot to update this forum community.
The DP were ceramic coated and when I went to install them found a few ugly leakes so I took her in to confirm. Found; - vacuum pump leaking oil onto exhaust - upper oil pan cracked - Both right & Left Valve covers leaking - crank case vent valve hose coming apart causing oil leak So with this news I immediately submitted a warranty claim but was promptly denied because the aftermarket warranty doesn't cover gaskets. With that news I parked her up in the garage until I can get to repair all that first. Of course the dealership wants $8k to complete all this so I chuckled and kindly said no thanks. It will take me a couple months to find the funds and the time to get all that fixed but lucky for me I can daily my M3s Sorry again for forgetting to update you all. Rico |
