BimmerLink and iPhone 17?

Hello,

So I upgraded to an iPhone 17 Pro Max (from an iPhone 11 Pro Max). On the iPhone 11 I was using BimmerLink to monitor engine parameters with an OBDLink CX obdii dongle and did not have any problems connecting to my 2013 BMW X5.

With the new iPhone 17, I cannot connect to the vehicle at all.

Anyone have the same phone and maybe got this working?

maybe the version of wifi/bluetooth of your obd2 adapter is obsolete and not compatible with iphone 17 wifi/bluetooth

Did you check?

I checked.

Tried to use both an OBDLink CX and VeePeak BLE. BimmerLink says these are compatible with all iPhones but supposedly the iPhone 17 uses some sort of new BlueTooth chip that is causing a lot of people problems with many BlueTooth devices.

Hello. I just wanted to say thank you for the recommendation.

I ordered the Vgate Vlinker BM+ and received it today.

I can confirm it does indeed work with my 2013 E70 X5 and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Thanks.

I had all sorts of issues with my old iphone XS when it came to bluetooth. Also recently upgraded to 17, no more issues with anything, including the OBDlink CX that I received two days ago. Connected right away, and I was able to read the codes with no issue.

Maybe its you OBDlink device itself?

Honestly, I really don't know. Could be that it was an older version of the OBDLink device that I had. I always had problems with my OBDLink dongle from day 1, mainly that it always took 3 or 4 attempts to connect before my iPhone 11 would connect to it. Same problem when I tried to use an Android device as well.

But the Vlinker dongle works great. Always connects on the first try and seems to be more responsive.

No issues today with my iPhone 17 Pro running the latest iOS 26.3 beta connecting with the OBDLink CX Bluetooth.

Did a bunch of coding with BimmerCode and checking/clearing codes with BimmerLink, no problem.
