Massachusetts man charged after trooper clocks BMW going 129 mph on I-93

Ouch!

https://www.unionleader.com/news/cri...lock_id=664688

"A Massachusetts man was arrested Sunday after state police say they clocked him driving his BMW at speeds exceeding 125 mph.

According to state police, around 1:17 p.m. Sunday Trooper Mark Barrett was notified via dispatch of multiple complaints of a small group of BMWs traveling erratically and at high rates of speed along Interstate 93 from Plymouth and heading down to Northfield.

A short time later, a 2011 BMW Series 1 coupe with Massachusetts plates drove past Barrett, who reported seeing the BMW weaving in and out of traffic at high speed in the area of mile marker 48, and also reported a digital readout on his speed radar gun of 129 mph in a posted 70-mph zone."

Yep, high speed swerving through traffic is way to dangerous to other drivers. Take his car away.

These are mere allegations. I’m going to give this guy the presumption of innocence until I hear more details.

Driving like that in traffic is dumb. Driving like that across large empty basins with lots of visibility just fine.

Agree - He might of been on his way to CDC headquarters with the only antidote to prevent an apocalyptic virus outbreak about to happen... Now we're all doomed because of that ignorant officer's interference. It happens more than you know....

way easier to judge and sit on our moral high horses

edit: I was being bullied by some dude in a 440i this morning. Like dude IDGAF what ur driving. Im just trying to go to work. Leave me be; I put the cruise on 70 for a reason. Sometimes I gotta punch it to triple digits to break a rolling road block but then slow back down to 70. I always wonder tho if I get clocked doing that.

I have a similar situation on the rural road I have to drive to town. It’s a 50mph speed limit and most people do 60 or close to it. But I’ve been known to pass five or six cars at a time, all noodling along behind some dumb ass. My highlander gets up to 90 pretty quick.

I never take dumb chances, and always have good visibility for oncoming cars. And I slow down quickly. My theory is that if there are no oncoming cars, there are no cops. They speed trap on the fly now, so they aren’t sitting behind some bush.

Right. Because the 1 series lineup, since it's the lowest number in the lineup you know, has the least powerful engine resulting in a slow POS car.

I'll be the first to admit that I learned my 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L is governed to 117 mph, but driving like that in traffic is just asking for a deadly accident. Long open roads are one thing, putting the lives of others at risk is another.

Honestly, though. I got more speeding tickets in my 135's than any of my M3's or current M5. The car was so quick from 60-100mph.
