X5M Exhaust valve/flap not opening?
Anyone know where the vacuum pump is located for the exhaust flap in the OEM exhaust? When I hit the "M" button, the valve normally opens but I believe the pump needs to be replaced as it no longer opens on cold starts, WOT, and when I activate M mode.

I had this problem. It was as simple as lubing up the actuator. Get under there and see the flap actuator from the outside of the exhaust, see if it is tough to move. Add WD-40, DONE!

I’ll try that trick but I was able to actuate the valves with my hand. I’m thinking it’s the pump. I followed the vacuum lines and I don’t see any cracks or loose connections. I lose sight of the line when it disappears behind the bumper area.

I had this exact issue, line was pinched, it was fixed by dealer, 5 min job - they didn't even charge me anything since I was already there getting an oil change.

Please see this thread - http://www.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1295996
I didn't actually saw where it was exactly pinched but tech told me it was near rear bumper. And I did get a CEL whenever I punch the car CEL - 69203 checked faults - 310B - I think it's related to vacuum. |

Tie the arm with wire so that the flap remains open at all times. Problem solved.

bringing this up from the dead... so i recently had some rear bumper body work done ... and after, hitting the M button does not activate the exhaust valve to open.
i looked at the rubber hose underneath and it seems intact and connected. any idea where i can start looking. I feel that its just not connected somewhere in the bumper. any way to remedy this without removing the bumper? |
