What production week will the '09 start getting built?
Does anyone know this? My X6 was originally scheduled for production date of week 30 which is July 20th and then got bumped to week 32 (August 3rd).
I am trying to figure this out becase if '09s are going to start around week 36-38 then I may just wait for the '09. If any later the I will stick with the '08. don't care about the new iDrive and some other features that others are waiting for as I will look forward to this on my wife's new car when her lease is up in 13 months. |

M BMW dealer told me that 2009 models starts production from September, that's about week 36-38. Anything before will be 2008 model. If I were you, I would just wait, it's just a 1 month wait. Besides, it does make a difference in the value of the car. As far as the new iDrive, it won't be available until Mach 09 production.

Got's to disss-agree dude!
Gettin' an 08 late in 08 will mean you will likely have very low miles during the entire availability of every 09. This means a $3k savings to your wallet |

Where are you getting $3k savings to your wallet from? Dealers around here are not discounting the 50i by $3k

$3k plus in savings is the diff on the increase of an 09 vs an 08. Been told the 09's will have a min of 5% increase - at that rate with my options configured - $3500 green backs that will remain in my wallet while I am tooling down the autobahn in my sweet 08

That is a very interesting point. If this is definitely true then the difference in price could almost make up the difference in depreciation hit if I buy a late year model '08 and have low miles.

I haven't heard anything as far as price increase for '09 models. The prices are still the same...however, I wouldn't be surprised for an increase given the Euros and gas inflation. For us here in kuwait, gas prices are no worry since it's one of the cheapest in the world, along with other gulf region countries. No taxes as well...
For example, Regular unleaded 89 Octan: $0.21/Litre = $0.80 Cents/Gallon |

Kuwait comes maybe 3rd after Nigeria, where prices are like $0.38/gallon, Kuwait around $0.78/gallon (Tax Free) In oil producing countries, oil is produced by a government-owned company and local gasoline prices are kept low as a benefit to the nation's citizens. Unlike Europe, where people are paying nearly 3 times more than those in the U.S. Many European nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline. |
