I replaced mine last fall. BMW quoted me $4,700 for upper and lower oil pan gasket replacement. I contacted several Indy shops around with the cheapest quote being $1,600 just to replace the two gaskets and change the engine oil and the highest quote was $2,500 to replace the gaskets, all new aluminum upper and lower pan bolts (they are one time use only), new axle seals, front differential service while it was removed, new axle retaining nuts, and an oil change. I love DIY projects so I planned it out and tackled it myself. I bought all the parts listed above plus an engine support bar to remove the front subframe and was out under $500. It was extremely labor intensive but overall very enjoyable! It’s been over 10k mi and still dry! I will attemp to post a few pics but not sure if it will work.
