When I worked "back counter" at a BMW dealer we had bottles of Ceratec. It was so long ago, I do not remember when or why certain cars would receive the additive. If BMW recommended it or not, again i'm not sure but that wasn't really a decision that was made the parts/service manager.

I do know that now I see a lot more indy shops using their products. LM has been pushing harder in recent years to make their additives known.
