My 2009 X5 35d is coming up to 138K miles. Owned since new and generally has being very reliable. Last year was an assortment of issues though which are typical for age/mileage.

Thermostat replacement
Vacuum lines - all replaced
Throttle valve replaced
Early warning DPF has 20,000Km left

And just lately Glow plug 5 and controller error, so will need a new controller minimum.

Thing is. Still love the car. It’s a nice one with HUD and anti roll/active drive.

I test drove a 2016 X5 35i F15. I did think about getting something newer. Was rather unimpressed. Felt it was a step backwards interms of overall drive. Engine seems gutless compared to the diesel and steering was too light. Too much body roll. Car didn’t have dynamic handling however, Probably will skip the f15 now.
