So a common issue is for the cylinder walls to get scored from the immense carbon build up that bad valve stem seals can cause. It’s actually a common issue as well. They can be checked by running a camera in through the spark plug hole. If the cylinder walls are scored it’s a gamble if reboring and replacing pistons will fix the car. Better to replace the engine. Of course the indys if they’re competent will check this as well.

I know it’s not the same engine, but the problems remained. If the cylinder walls are fine . Fix it.
