If you have the rear air suspension
If one of the air bags has gone you will here the compressor kick in as these things have sensors to level suspension i'm pretty sure, if the compressor works repeatedly after you start your car probably is the air bag has a leak. Best bet getting it changed as it will continue to slave your compressor and them things ain't cheap.
