Correct those flaps are removed.. that is a one way valve but the tri-connection there is no longer needed. Also with these catch cans from Rodium, you don't need a one way valve in the path and that's why those parts are removed.
No cutting is needed, the parts pull apart to expose ends that will accept a 5/8" hose.
