Just posted this in another thread - but thought I would share here as well:
IMHO everyone should have a beater in the stable (ours as I've shared before is an early 2000's Mazda protege) / I love mine in fact mine just hung out at the U-Haul parking lot for the last three days without concern because we needed a van to pick up some stuff from Home Depot / my son and I returned the van and went to our beater and saw a large scratch on the bumper (I think someone backed into it) I said to my son "I don't think that was there before" he said "nope it wasn't" and we both said "oh well" got in and drove away
This while our BMWs sat safely in the garage - thank you beater for taking one for the team
