My intercooler is air to air exchange. Turbos are cooled by oil. Only pump I've ever changed is the coolant water pump that's for the engine and egr cooler, which is belt driven.

Throwing it out there, I do believe we have an auxiliary pump inour 35d's. Aux water pumps are how bmw does the "rest" heat function. I can hear mine running when it's in "rest" mode.
