I put in a "reinforced" unit off amazon. Truthfully, I'd rather the gear strips eventually again than the actuator stripping or breaking. planned failure points and all, the gear was cheaper to replace than anything else!
If the original gear lasted that long, and lived 100k miles in Vermont, I see no reason this one will go anytime soon. It's also worth noting that while my original gear lasted 240k miles, I stripped mine while offroading in deep sand/ using lots of articulation and wheel lifts through terrain. My new unit just got pretty abused driving 250 miles through 3-8" of unplowed snow on friday, and at 251k miles is still feeling great!
