It might also be able to tell from the aux input. IIRC, If it doesn't have USB then it likely doesn't need the AUX connection.
My e90 with logic7 did need the aux input. I cut off a female aux cable and soldered it into the back side of the aux input and then connected an aux cable between it and the Android unit. I did buy a better shielded aux cable even though it probably doesn't really matter.
