Oil filter housing with heat exchanger leaking

Hi,
I'm after a bit of advise please...

I purchased an E71 X6 with the N57 engine, just before Christmas.
As I do with all the cars that I buy, I give the car a service. I dropped the car off at my local "BMW Specialist" two days before Christmas day for them to carry out the service.

They phoned me at 1545 that day and said that there was a problem.
Upon removing the oil filter cap, the end of the shaft of the cap had snapped off. The car couldn't be driven and I had to wait till the day after boxing day.

Once the work was completed, I collected my car and the owner said how immaculate the car was both inside and out. No oil leaks.

Fast forward to today and I notice rainbow colours on the floor next to the car.
Quick look underneath and I find oil on the underside of the under tray.

I took the car back to the garage and they said that the oil filter housing with heat exchanger is leaking and costs over £500 to replace.

Am I being done over or is this genuine?

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks
