I do buy 93 octane all the time. It is the twin turbo model. I was told by the mechanic that he would not be able to tell me more until he was able to take the turbos apart. I told him no.

Should I allow him to crack open the turbos to see what is going on inside or is there something else I can do?
If you have the 50i, then you have the n63 engine and best place to start is with the ignition coils and spark plugs. You should also pickup a foxwell nt510 or better scanner with the BMW software loaded on it so you can see exactly what is going on with your engine and not be at the mercy of mechanics who could easily take advantage of you.

Go to FCPeuro or autohauzaz for parts. Recommend you get the Eldor brand coils. They are superior to all other brands, especially Bosch.
