Intelligent alternator control and battery sensor

Is anyone aware of and/or familiar with this issue with the s63's Intelligent alternator control and battery sensor?

I am reading in different places that this is the root cause of the battery not lasting and throwing the dreaded "extended battery discharge" message. Of course BMWs response is to change the battery to an AGM and change it annually. WOW, how about recode the damn thing to just run like a normal alternator at the 13-14V.

why so complicated?

anyone have experience coding? I have an ICOM and some various software. I have to read up more on ISTA with the ICOM and coding.
