GT3 cars have become more advanced over the years aero wise it's no surprise in a way that this is possible. There are many pictures of cars going over this crest with their suspension on full droop as they literally jump it, so the warning signs were there you could say. This instance of a GT3 car becoming airborne is so rare though that there is little need for a jerk reaction for a NASCAR style 'flaps'. Prototypes have the 'shark fin' the combat the airborne issue but that seems to have been a bit hit and miss.

It's tragic for the family of the spectator and also for Jan and the team. I've worked at the JRM factory building those cars and know the mechanics running that car and I can only praise how professional they are. To be a passenger in that instance must be the most awful thing. There are more and more videos of the accident from different angles. It's lucky no one else was killed and that Jan escaped uninjured.

For the record, key word is ‘based’. The GT3 car shares, it’s chassis, engine and wishbones and the GTR badge with the production car. That’s it. GT3 cars do have traction control because they are designed to be more drivable for gent drivers as well as pros.
