Seems like the M2 might be pretty similar to the M235 race car.
I'd guess it's at least another 1.5 years before an M2 becomes available.
The things I like about the M2, if they make it this way: Reminiscent of an E46M3, mabye even and E36. Smaller, lighter, more agile. Somewhat usable back seat. A real trunk. Performance (hopefully). Hopefully more sports car than sports coupe.
Things I like about the M4: Looks/design/style. S55 engine. Luxury/comfort features. Real trunk. Performance (of course).
For me, in the end, I just with the M2 would be a smaller, lighter M4. I don't need a back seat, although it's nice to have one that can fit something bigger than a 5 yr old child. But I do need a trunk. Sounds crazy, but this is the main reason I won't consider the 911. I think once I get used to the 'upscale' M4, I won't want to give it up; I'll just want both cars.
I also think the M3/M4 is BMW's crown jewel, and they won't make an M2 that will best it. The situation will probably be like E92M3 and 1M.
