I really wanted to stay with BMW, but there is just not enough information or really any help about the V12s. I was more than a little disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm about the 850s. Do I still want one, OH YEAH! But it would be a lottery dream car as I would get an 850CSi, along with a Z8 and a 507.
I was truly surprised by how many people and how much information was out there about the M-B V12 SLs. Blew me away. Not only was I told what I should look for on the car, but if certain things were present what those repairs entailed and an estimated cost. Those people had it squared away.
The Jaguar group came in a close second, but I knew most of them from the Triumph and British car groups I was in many decades ago. I felt like I had been living in a hotel for a few months and then returning home to my comfy chair.
With all that being said, I will start looking for an M-B V12 SL in the coming months. Either a 96+ R129 or an 03+ R230. The R230 Biturbos are enticing, but the earlier R129 normally aspirated V12s are a bit simpler.
