Yeah I think its been ditched for quite some time. I do still wish IOS had real file system management but its caught up on everything else WRT interfacing. All apps via the onboard app store, wireless backups, and 99% of people just stream music anymore.

At this point the differences between Android and IOS are pretty slim, at least AOSP Android (lots of stuff piled on when skinned). IOS is finally more than just a grid of icons, much improved notifications, and SOME ability to replace default apps. And Android has replicated a lot of the polish of IOS.
