Was in for service at dealer last month at 119,900 miles and they offered me a new motor for $7,500. I chose not to buy the engine. I probably would have for $3,000. The car has been very reliable for me the last 5 years. I've put on over 70,000 miles. I don't like the oil mess on the back of my alpine weiss x5, nor do I care for the constant smoke out of the tailpipes. Adding oil is kind of annoying, but overall it's been pretty good. I plan on driving it until it gives up.

A quart every 500 miles . So if you reached 8 quarts of oil after 4000 miles, you would have had a free oil change.
I don't bother about oil consumption either. Its a blessing in disguise. Oil remains fresh.
Will worry about CAT when it gives up ., then I will sell it off.
