Besides the running boards, another factor is the seats. If they are the sport seats, the side bolsters may make it tougher to exit. I have the M Sport package and Multi Contour Seats. Getting in is easy with an easy step up and over. Getting out I do swing my leg over the side bolster and slide on it a bit. This has caused some wear in the 17k miles so far. I noticed the Cayenne S had deep side bolsters making it much more difficult to exit than my X5.
