Being comfortable when getting in and out of your car is so important that you may want to consider a different car. I bought my 550i thinking "oh, it's just a matter of adjusting the seat correctly" - wrong! I love the car but getting in and out of it - and seeing out of it - are the two things that bother me on a daily basis. Knowing this now, would I buy another one? I'm not sure. BTW, I'm also 5'10" normal weight.

I just ordered a 2012 X5 diesel and the one thing I checked very carefully this time was the ingress/egress comfort and visibility. IMO the X5 scored very high here. I found it easy to get in and out of and it has super visibility. My wife won't drive my 550i because she cannot see out of it, but she chose the X5 as her daily driver.

My advice: don't buy the car until you are sure that this won't bother you every time you drive it.
